This month we discussed Ministering and the changes coming in the new year. These notes are a compilation and summary of the comments made during our Council Meeting. It is not meant to be a complete transcript.
Ministering should be more about the sister than the message. Be a good listener. Get to know the sisters on a personal level. It can be hard to branch out, but when impressions come to us we should act on them. Those impressions come for a reason.
You can pray for your sisters, build relationships with them. Go the extra mile with ministering, reach out and give counsel. Stay in tune and the Lord will guide you and help you with ministering. Don’t treat ministering as a chore. It is to care for and uplift others.
Think about your ministering companion. Is she here? Companions are matched based on look or social status. Think about the sisters you minister to. Think of how you’ve ministered and what you haven’t done.
It is hard to ask for help but when you do it helps everyone. Everyone needs something. We all have needs.
Women are primarily responsible for teaching children. It is important to strengthen family and extended family. The best thing a child can learn from a mother is the gospel. It is a gift to be a woman and everything a woman can do and be.
We can always do better, but don’t look at it in a negative way. Be positive, do the best you can. Just do it. You need to receive revelation and follow it.
You are responsible for yourself. It is for your change and growth. It is individual. We can all individually come closer to Christ.
